About me

I am a country girl with a vagabond streak living off the grid at a remote, fly in lodge in the Alaskan bush. I am blessed to share this life with my husband Joe, who loves adventuring with me and captures our life in photographs and my rambunctious daughter, Emma . Our constant side kick is our dog Howie, with lopsided ears and an insatiable appetite for attention. We live year round at Caribou Lodge, our small cabin nestled at the properties edge with a breathtaking view of Denali.  We have partnered with Joe’s brother Zac and his wife Alyssa in running and operating Caribou Lodge Alaska, A fly in lodge for people from around the world to come and enjoy the solitude and beauty of the Alaskan wilderness.  Joe and Zac guide hikes and backcountry trips during the summer and fall, while Alyssa and I cook and clean and take care of guests, while juggling and training our own “help” ,three wild little girls. Winter blows in and we begin our playtime, snow machining, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, or just curling up with a book in front of the fire. I love good food, and even better coffee, and all the challenges that come with living off the grid. I am a amateur (very) gardener, each year has been a crash course as I struggle against the elements and try to grow something edible. My green thumb is a work in progress! I am never happier than when I have a cup of coffee in one hand, my dog next to me and a vast expanse of wilderness in front of me.
