One of my main responsibilities here at the lodge is keeping everyone well fed. I love cooking and trying to use the food sources that the land around us offers. We have tons of blueberries and cranberries, as well as a garden and green house for vegetables. I must admit the world of gardening is somewhat new to me, but I love playing in the dirt and am ready to learn. Feel free to pepper me with gardening advice, I need it!
My favorite part of life out here is getting to explore the hidden places of Alaska. We spend a lot of time hiking and observing wildlife.
There is an unending supply of chores that need done around the lodge when our guests leave. We spend our days prepping cabins, hauling water (in winter), getting firewood, keeping up the grounds, (shoveling in winter, mowing in summer) We love the hard work, and its rewarding to see everything in order.
We may work hard out here, but in our down time we make sure to relax and enjoy life. Sometimes that’s just getting lost in a good book, while sitting by the fire, and other times it’s kayaking or playing in the snow.
