Three years ago, my husband, Joe and I uprooted our small town lives and moved to a remote, off the grid, lodge in the Alaskan bush. We traded our day jobs, for hosting, cooking, and guiding hikers from around the world through the tundra. While we have always dreamed of owning a small bed and breakfast in Alaska, we definitely took it to a new extreme. Our goal is to enjoy a more independent lifestyle, find new ways to use the resources around us, explore the land, and enjoy the beauty of a simple life. We don’t have it all figured out yet, it’s a journey where elements and nature enter our daily lives and disrupt them, causing us to become more adaptable, reminding us how small we are in the vast wilderness around us.
